Enameled Wire

Round Enameled Copper WirePrecision-Engineered for Peak Performance

Available in multiple thermal classes from 130 to 220°C with precise dimensional tolerances for transformers, inductors, motors, and more.

Magnet wire — also known as enameled wire or winding wire — is crafted from copper or aluminum with a thin layer of polymer insulation. It is a fundamental component in transformers, inductors, motors, generators, solenoids, and a wide range of electrical and electronic devices.

The enamel coating provides continuous insulation with resins selected to optimize abrasion resistance, solderability, and thermal classification. YIDA's enameled wires are formulated for temperature ranges from 130 to 220°C, delivering a dependable service lifespan of 20,000 hours at rated temperature — validated against IEC, GB/T, and NEMA standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Class 130 and Class 220 enameled wire?+
The class number refers to the maximum continuous operating temperature in degrees Celsius. Class 130 wire uses polyester or polyurethane insulation suitable for general-purpose motors and transformers. Class 220 wire uses a polyesterimide/polyamide-imide composite insulation that withstands extreme heat, making it ideal for EV traction motors and aerospace applications. Higher thermal classes also provide better resistance to chemical exposure and thermal aging.
What standards does YIDA round magnet wire comply with?+
All YIDA round enameled copper wire conforms to IEC 60317, GB/T 6109, and NEMA MW 1000 specifications. Our facility is certified to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and our products carry UL approval. Test reports are available upon request for specific grades and sizes.
What diameter range is available for round enameled copper wire?+
YIDA manufactures round enameled copper wire in diameters from 0.035mm (#47 AWG) to 3.0mm (#9 AWG), covering virtually all winding applications. Fine-gauge wire down to 0.035mm is available in polyurethane insulation, while heavier gauges up to 3.0mm are available across all insulation types.
How do I choose the right thermal class for my application?+
Select a thermal class based on the maximum continuous winding temperature in your application, plus a safety margin. For general-purpose motors and transformers, Class 130-155 is typically sufficient. For automotive and inverter-driven motors, Class 180-200 is standard. For EV traction motors and aerospace applications, Class 200-220 provides the necessary thermal endurance. Our technical team can help you select the optimal grade.
Can YIDA supply custom specifications for round magnet wire?+
Yes. YIDA regularly produces custom specifications including non-standard diameters, tighter tolerances, special spool sizes, and custom insulation build-ups. With over 500 pieces of production equipment and 40+ years of experience, we can engineer wire to your exact requirements. Contact our technical team with your specifications for a quote.
